When going for an interview, make sure you sell yourself to the prospective employer. do not only depend on your impressive background, your resumes or your application letter. this will always help you as interviewer's are trying to find a reason to let you down.

What to do when you are preparing for an interview?

1. Conduct a research about an organization or employer

Make sure you equip yourself with as much information as possible. Find out about organization's products and services offered. Also find out history of an organization. This will also justify the reason as to why you are interested in employment of the organization.

Speak with the person who referred you to the organization an an employee of the organization. this will also give you more informations that are relevant and relate with operation of the organization.

Exploring the internet (world wide web) also helps to find more information that an organization has published through the internet/website. Though these are general information about the organization.

Also search through the print or computerized databases so that to obtain more information. Predict future position of organization basing on existing and previous trend of the organization. this will assist you in 'go' or 'no go' decision.

It is also important to make peace with your previous employer. don't leave your previous employer without following proper procedures such as informing officially your previous employer, handing over all necessary items in your possession etc.


2. Identify items to take to the interview

A pen (with ink) and a writing pad for taking notes. you need to take note of various important information. Make sure you have all necessary items to assist to collect those information.

Establish professionally looking folder with copy of your resume and list of your references. also make sure you do not read your CV, make sure you are familiar with your own history instead of reading it. Reading your history in your CV is likely to discredit you from being employed.

If necessary you may also prepare a portfolio that contains documents or projects that demonstrates your knowledge and qualifications for job. this is a creative way of adding some credit in your interview.

You may also list questions that you wish to ask during an interview. this is only for refreshing your memory. But do not show these questions to the panel of interviewers.

Also make sure you have a good night's sleep towards an interview. This will make you sharp and boost your energy level.
