An organization need to ensure employees are motivated enough. Motivation is linked with an organization attaining high performance hence competitive advantage. Motivated employees are more committed and are likely to be retained within an organization for a longer period. The followings are strategies that may enhance employee motivation;

1.      Information sharing
Information empowers and motivates employees (information is power). Informed employees feel more important and valued by an organization. Employees should be given first priority in information sharing. It is important to share all quarterly, semi-annually and annually reports to employees.

2.      Compensation and rewards
Employees who are compensated and rewarded for their outstanding performance are highly motivated. Performance appraisal with rewards motivates more employees.

3.      Employee involvement
Engaging an employee in organization decisions gives power and responsibility to an employee hence motivation. When employees are involved in contributions and suggestions, they feel part of an organization and part goals that need to be accomplished.

4.      Recognition
When employees are recognized formally or informally they get motivated. Some organizations tend to recognize employees by issuing recognition letters for outstanding performance and these letters may be attached with some financial bonuses. Congratulating employees for their better performance increases the level of their motivation.

5.      Job security
Employees are more motivated when they are assured of the employment on long-term basis. Employee feels growing with organization overtime.

6.      Training employee
Taking care about employee career development involves providing training opportunities to such employee. An organization which invests in employees through trainings is likely to have motivated employees. Employees need to be equipped with proper knowledge and skills for their jobs. Skilled and knowledgeable employees are motivated and productive.

7.      Employee flexibility
Allowing employee to arrange on how to spend their time in doing their jobs motivates more employees. 

8.      Consider job redesign
Job redesign motivates employee. Job redesign involves job rotation (exposing an employee to different jobs/tasks), job enlargement (giving employee more and different tasks), job enrichment (more and different tasks gives employee responsibilities and authority).

9.      Researching on employee motivation drivers
In order for an organization to success in motivating its employee, it is important to research on what factors may motivate an employee within such a particular employee. This enables an organization to succeed in motivating its employees.
