It is the duty of interviewee to make sure you make a first positive impression during an employment interview appearance. this is all about convincing the prospective employer at the first place. To fail or succeed in your interview can depend on your initial impression you express.
The followings can be done in order to make first positive impression during an employment interview;
1. Make sure you arrive early for your appointment. You may allow at least 30 minutes to cool off and shake off stress.
2. Make sure you dress in a business like. This can be done by ensuring the followings;
- Ensure clean hair, nails and shoes
- Avoid bright colors - stick to neutral or conservative colors such as blue, gray, black and brown.
- For men - suits may be proper. For women - Skirted suit may be proper. avoid carrying a purse.
- Be conservative about accessories - avoid dangling or gaudy jewellery. Men should not wear earrings, and women should limit their rings to one finger per hand.
3. Make sure you check your appearance while you are waiting to be called - do this by visiting the rest room for final checkup.
4. When you arrive, state your name and purpose, and while you wait revise your resume, application forms etc. Act in a professional manner.
5. Demonstrate self confidence because you will never get a second chance to make a first impression. The impression you make as you enter, will very likely influence the altitude towards you throughout the entire interview.
6. Few interviewer's opinion are formed by what you say but the rest is judged on how you look, act, or sound.
